What this publication covers

Coastline Health Review reports on preventive medicine, diagnostics and longevity for adults in Southern California. The subject is measurement: what a standard annual panel looks at, what it was designed to do, what current research points to instead, and how a reader can tell the difference between a useful number and an expensive one.

We are a regional publication by choice. Access to diagnostics varies enormously by geography, and writing for a specific place lets us be concrete about what is actually available rather than describing an idealised system nobody lives in.

What this publication is not

We are journalists, not clinicians. Nothing published here is medical advice, and nothing here diagnoses, treats or prevents any disease. We do not have a view on what you personally should do, because we do not know your history and are not in a position to. Every article is written to be brought to a licensed physician, not to replace one.

We have no products of our own and no paid subscription. We are funded by third parties whose products and services appear here: paid featured partnerships with physician-led practices, and affiliate relationships covering diagnostics, supplements, devices, testing services and programs, where we may earn a commission if you act on a recommendation. Where that is the case, we say so at the point you would act on it.

All of it is set out on our disclosure page, and it is the first thing we would want a sceptical reader to check.

Masthead

Articles carry either a named writer or the Coastline Health Review Staff byline, which indicates a piece written and edited internally. We do not publish under invented names, and we do not attach credentials to a byline that the writer does not hold.

Corrections
